Physical
Therapist
Qualifications:
Licensed as a
Physical Therapist by the State of Illinois and has graduated
from a curriculum approved by the American Physical Therapy
Association or the committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation
of the American Medical Association or the Council on Medical
Education of the American Physical Therapy.
Has two (2)
years experience as a Physical Therapist, and achieved a
satisfactory grade on a proficiency examination conducted,
approved or sponsored by the U.S. Public Health Service except
that such determination of proficiency does not apply with
respect to the persons initially licensed by a state or
seeking qualification as a Physical Therapist after December
21, 1977.
Responsibilities:
Assist the
Physician in evaluating the patient's level or function.
Participates in
the development and revision of the plan of care
Prepares
clinical and program notes.
Administer
manual therapeutic exercises to improve or maintain muscle
function.
Instruct,
motivate and assist patients on non-manual activities, such as
active regimens, isometric and progressive resistive.
Instruct,
motivate functional activities using available equipment and
supportive aids such as crutches, walkers, canes, orthoses,
and prosthesis.
Administer
treatment involving application of physical agents, such as
heat, light, cold, water, and electricity.
Administer
traction and massage.
Instruct other
health team members on ambulation and exercise therapy
requiring follow-up.
Participates in
case conference and discharge planning.
Participates in
in-service training.
Supervises the
physical therapy assistant every 4-6 visits which ever is
applicable.
