Licensed Practical Nurse

Qualifications:

The Licensed Practical Nurse must be a graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing Program and be licensed by the State of Illinois.  Candidate must have 2 years of medical/surgical experience.

Responsibilities:

The Licensed Practical Nurse reports to the Registered Nurse and Physician

The Licensed Practical Nurse will follow the plan of care as established by the Physician and/or the Registered Nurse.

The Licensed Practical Nurse shall prepare equipment and materials for treatments while observing clean, sterile, or aseptic technique as required.

The Licensed Practical Nurse shall assist the patient in learning appropriate self-care techniques.

The Licensed Practical Nurse provides adequate documentation of services rendered.

The Licensed Practical Nurse can initiate telephone orders.  The medications will be counter signed by the registered nurse.

Inform the Registered Nurse and other appropriate medical personnel of changes in the patient's condition.

Assist the Registered Nurse with preparing information for OASIS transmission.
